Unpatti,- The Faculty of Law of Universitas Pattimura held a Public Lecture with the theme "Strengthening the Rule of Law and Constitutional Challenges in the Era of Global Digital Transformation" with the resource person being the Constitutional Court Judge of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat, SH, MS on Friday, 19/12, at the Rectorate Hall of Universitas Pattimura.

This public lecture aims to provide understanding and strengthen insight to students and academics regarding the role of the rule of law and constitutional challenges in facing global digital developments and transformations.

The Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Pattimura, Dr. Ruslan HS Tawari, M.Si emphasized the importance of open-mindedness, cross-sector collaboration, and the presence of national figures in enriching the academic insights of the Universitas Pattimura academic community.

He also stated that the various legal challenges facing Maluku Province relate not only to digital transformation but also to maritime law enforcement, marine and fisheries resource management, and infrastructure limitations. He also highlighted the limited availability of facilities and ports that meet certain criteria, which impacts the effectiveness of law enforcement and public services. He stated that this constitutes a structural issue that requires academic study and collaborative solutions through research, scientific discussions, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Dr. Ruslan Tawari hopes that these strategic issues can be a discussion material for students and lecturers, so that ideas, policy recommendations, and solutions are born that are oriented towards the welfare of the Maluku people in the future and it is also hoped that this public lecture can be an academic forum that enriches students' insights, regarding the importance of strengthening the rule of law amidst the rapid development of digital technology, "This activity is expected to strengthen the integration between constitutional values, law, and digital developments in the academic world as well as in the life of society, nation, and state," he concluded.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, Dr. Hendrik Salmon, SH, MH, in his interview, said that the theme raised in this public lecture was considered very relevant and interesting, because it was able to bring together theoretical perspectives and state administration practices in a comprehensive manner.

The Dean explained that students tended to gain more theoretical understanding in the classroom, so that through this public lecture, participants gained a complete picture of how the constitution is maintained and upheld, both from a theoretical perspective and from direct practice by constitutional institutional actors.

Furthermore, Dr. Hendrik stated that the Faculty of Law at Universitas Pattimura is currently preparing for international accreditation. This effort aims to ensure that graduates possess superior competencies and global competitiveness, as well as the ability to integrate legal theory with practice based on the constitutional values ​​of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Regarding the international accreditation process, he explained that the Unpatti Faculty of Law is targeting the visitation to be carried out in February 2026 or at the latest in early March 2026. Currently, all administrative and contractual commitments have been fulfilled, including readiness to receive an international assessor team from Germany who will conduct verification at the Faculty of Law.
