LBH Goes to School: How the Faculty of Law of Universitas Pattimura Celebrates National Children's Day 2025

LBH Goes to School, the LBH Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura program provides legal counseling in the form of legal education for elementary and middle school students, this time it was carried out as a way for LBH Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura to celebrate National Children's Day 2025.

LBH Goes to School The 2025 National Children's Day edition, titled "Protect Children, Advance the Nation," was held over two days at two schools. The first day's activities took place on July 22, 2022, at SMP Negeri 7 Ambon, while the second day was held on July 23, 2025, at SMK Negeri 2 Ambon.

At SMP Negeri 7 Ambon, LBH Faculty of Law presented Harly Salmon, SHMH, a young lecturer in Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura as a resource person and was guided by Dean Isack, SH as a moderator. Meanwhile at SMK Negeri 2 Ambon, another young lecturer in Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, was present as a resource person, and the discussion was guided by Riska Madaul SH as a moderator. The number of participants who attended the activity was 50 (fifty) male and female students in each school with a total accumulation of participants reaching 100 (one hundred) people.

The speakers presented basic education on children's rights, forms of violence to avoid, and the importance of speaking up and reporting. The speakers' interactive, age-appropriate methods proved effective, as evidenced by the enthusiastic participation of the students in the discussion, who were not shy about responding with questions, comments, and stories.

Heillen MY Tita, SH, MH, Secretary of the LBH Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, who was also present during the 2 (two) days of activities and gave a speech, conveyed the importance of knowledge about violence against children as an effort to protect children from violence itself.

"We routinely carry out this activity with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of protecting children from physical, psychological, sexual violence and negotiation both for children at school and for teachers and other school residents as an effort to prevent violence from happening to children, especially in the school environment, if necessary the number is 0, so that these children can carry out their educational activities comfortably so that a golden generation will grow that will advance this nation in the future," said Heillen in his remarks.

This activity not only demonstrates the commitment of the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, but also empowers paralegals as legal aid providers, who are integral to the legal aid system itself. This is evident in the program. LBH Goes to School The 2025 National Children's Day edition was handled entirely by the LBH Paralegals of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, who were assigned as the Legal Counseling Committee, including Rahma Namkatu, SH, as Chair, Riska Madaul as Secretary, Dean Isack as a member and Moderator, Angel Julianti, Astrid Purwanto, Shanya Ilela, and Dendy Ferrara each as members.
