Unpatti Law Students Receive Legislative Competence Training from the Director of Legislation at the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights

Faculty of Law, Patti University, – The Faculty of Law of Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti) held a Public Lecture with the theme “Student Competence in the Formation of Legislation” on Friday, June 7, 2024. This activity presented a renowned resource person, namely Dr. Alpius Sarumaha, SH, MH, Director of Promulgation, Translation, Publication and Information Systems of the Directorate General of Legislation of the Republic of Indonesia. This public lecture was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Unpatti, Dr. Hendrik Salmon, SH, MH and moderated by Dr. Julista Mustamu, SH, MH, Chair of LBH FH Unpatti.

This public lecture was attended by the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance of Unpatti Prof. Dr. Pieter Kakisina, S.Pd, M.Si, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FH Unpatti Dr. Sherlock H. Lekipiouw, SH, MH Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Dr. JSF Peilouw, SH, MH, Head of the Undergraduate Program in Law Dr. Irma Halima Hanafi, SH, MH Administrative Coordinator, Lecturers, and approximately 180 students of the Faculty of Law Unpatti.

In his remarks, Dr. Hendrik Salmon expressed his appreciation to Dr. Alpius Sarumaha for his willingness to serve as a resource person. He also stated that the material in this general lecture is crucial for students, particularly in preparing themselves to become law graduates capable of contributing to the legislative process.

In his presentation, Dr. Alpius Sarumaha discussed the crucial role of students in the process of formulating legislation. He explained that students possess significant potential and resources to contribute to the legislative process. He also emphasized the importance of mastering legal material and developing strong communication skills for students to actively contribute to the legislative process.

The students enthusiastically responded to this activity. Several students actively asked questions and engaged in discussions with the speakers. This demonstrated their strong interest in learning about the process of developing legislation.

It is hoped that this activity will enhance Unpatti's Law Faculty students' understanding and competence in the legislative drafting process. This will enable them to become agents of change, encouraging the creation of just and pro-people legislation.
