KBRN, Ambon: LPP RRI Ambon held an Arts Performance and Dialogue with the theme "Blending Elections and Democracy Within the Framework of a Legal State" at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti) Ambon on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

This art performance and election dialogue was held in collaboration with RRI Ambon and the Faculty of Law, Unpatti Ambon, presenting two speakers, namely Member of the Maluku Province Bawaslu Stevin Melay and Dean of the Unpatti Faculty of Law Hendrik Salmon.

Dean of the Faculty of Law, Hendrik Salmon, acknowledged that students, as strategic partners in election supervision, play a crucial role in the participatory supervision process by providing initial information to prevent violations.

They can also actively participate in supervising and monitoring the election process, and report any indications of violations.

Bawaslu member Stevin Melay emphasized that his party prioritizes the prevention process, because if the prevention process is carried out early, it will minimize indications of election violations.

Bawaslu hopes that students, as part of its oversight partners, can learn to actively participate in the democratic process and monitor the smooth running of elections for the future of this country.

The art performance and dialogue, which lasted approximately 90 minutes, received appreciation from 100 students of the Faculty of Law who filled the auditorium of the Faculty of Law, Unpatti.

Muhammad Azwa Sukur, a 2021 student in the Law Study Program, assessed that this activity was very beneficial because it encouraged Generation Z, especially first-time voters, to participate in the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, 2024.

"This is very beneficial for us, an extraordinary collaboration between RRI and the Provincial Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), especially our Foster Mother, the Faculty of Law, Unpatti Ambon, who has provided understanding and motivation for us to participate in accordance with the principles of elections and the positive laws that apply in our beloved country," said Sukur.

He hopes that the simultaneous regional elections in Maluku this year will run smoothly and that there will be no election violations.

He also hopes that election organizers and law enforcement will uphold the principle of neutrality to ensure the success of the 2024 regional elections.
