News

UNPATTI,- Webinar "The Urgency of Socio-Legal Research During the Pandemic" at the same time Pre-Event of the 3rd IANJ Socio-Legal Conference And Social-Legal Master Class ㅡ The Socio-Legal Joint Conferences “Resilience In The Time Of Crisis: Justice, Access And Participation And Socio Legal Master Class, held Monday, September 27, 2021 via Zoom meeting and YouTube live streaming.

This activity was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. RJ Akyuwen, SH. M.Hum. In his remarks, Dr. Akyuwen explained that Socio-Legal has actually been widely used, but many people still don't recognize it, even though without realizing it, it is often used in various legal research. It is hoped that this webinar can provide enlightenment to academics in the field of law to be more open and develop new concepts and methods to enrich the space for thinking in reviewing research results.

director Strengthening Legal Education in Easter Indonesia (SLEEI) Dr. Revency Vania Rugebregt, SH.MH, stated that socio-legal research is a legal research approach that utilizes the social sciences. A normative legal approach is apparently insufficient to understand and address the ever-evolving legal issues in society. Despite the rapid development of legal studies in various parts of the world, it must be acknowledged that socio-legal research and studies (socio-legal research/studies) remains controversial, especially in the world of higher legal education. Uniquely, the debate arose and persisted within law faculties regarding the dominant situation or context of doctrinal studies (often referred to in other literature as juridical-normative, or legal dogmatic research methods) in their studies. Socio-legal studies are often dichotomized by the question of whether they constitute legal or social research. These various debates gave rise to the idea for this event and are also a Pre-Event of the 3rd IANJ Socio-Legal Conference And Social-Legal Master Class ㅡ The Socio-Legal Joint Conferences “Resilience In The Time Of Crisis: Justice, Access And Participation And Socio Legal Master Class. There were 100 participants in the Zoom meeting and 254 people in the live YouTube streaming.
